Saved from the scrapyard.
After an eventful trip from Poland – where our customer found it at a scrapyard – this former Danish marine ship arrived at our shipyard in November 2017. The beautiful lines and powerful two-stroke engine caught their attention, and they instantly recognized its potential.
The best of both worlds.
Our assignment was clear: take this lady into the 21st century, but preserve her character and the two-stroke B&W Alpha engine.
The renovation.
To make this happen, we stripped the ship from mast to keel. The old superstructure was replaced by a more spacious and modern one, and the beloved main engine was revised. Everything else on board was also renewed. The ship was then taken out of the water to be painted and we started work on the finish. Finally, after the launch, the outfitting was completed, and it was time for the trial run.
The renovation was fully completed in barely 11 months, and she was ready to brave the North Sea in October 2018.
The result.
The renovation of the Spirit of Romo is a project we take a lot of pride in: it has become a beautiful ship, fully equipped with all modern conveniences.
